Successful, unmarried, 40-something lawyer Julie Anderson hires Amelia to find her childhood sweetheart, Joseph Yancey Witherbee, who disappeared 24-years previously under suspicious circumstances. So that’s basically the story – finding Joseph.
In the previous novels in this series there are “goons” following Amelia and Rick as they go about solving the mystery, but this time the author mixes it up a bit. I like it.

This is also the ongoing love story between Amelia and her partner in the detective agency, handsome, charming Rick Bonito. I can picture them in my mind’s eye because the author has successfully developed their characters and looks in her previous 4 novels. There are romantic interludes that keep the relationship charming, exciting and chaste. Rick is ready to tie the knot; Amelia isn't, despite her love for Rick and we learn why in this book.

I love the description of the Red Mountains of Utah, the red soil and desert plants, the verdant mountains of Arizona. The dinosaur dig sounds fascinating.

There are enough twists and turns in this cozy mystery to keep the story interesting until its inevitable, yet satisfying conclusion.

This is a fast-paced, creative mystery that has at its heart crime, archaeological digs, romance, “good guys and bad” that combine to make an interesting, quick read.
